Pool Hall.

I didn't realize how serious pool players are. For the first time ever I was told to "Go Away" .. wow !!! Maybe it was just the only woman in there who had a problem... shooting a feature story during a tournament, probably not the best idea, but it wasn't my idea, so I'm ok with it.

A laugh

I'm not impressed with Moe's.. but the beloved fluff ball Larkin liked the leftovers so much he was able to eat a round hole in the bag to get to the good stuff... I was at the gym so I missed his face in there but still laughed out loud when I came home to trash all over my freshly vacuumed floor... Life with a dog is good.

bugging me...

yet another illustration..... about fireworks causing property damage when used improperly .. something isn't working for me. Any thoughts?

found

I keep my 20D on a shelf as it sees little use these days. Every now and then I take a few random shots with it and let them sit for a few weeks or in this case months to forget about what I shot, its kind of like sitting on a roll of film for a long time. These two frames were on the card I decided to take a look at today. Its my day off, I'm bored.

Peaches

In my now weekly quest to save money, support my local farmers, and eat healthier I hit the farmers market today.

2 local red peppers.... $.99
2 local tomatoes ..... $.99
1 pound local green beans...$.99
1 local cantaloupe $2.00
and the 6 local peaches $1.49

This week its a savings of $10.15 over the Piggly Wiggly down the street.

So far for June I've saved $ 37.50 or nearly a tank of gas...

the best part is I've met some really wonderful people..

BBQ..

Did a quick Soundslides today on the Westwood BBQ in Hartsville.. I don't eat the stuff, but the fries were the BEST I have had outside of a state fair..
Its been a cool week, very busy, but as of Monday the Morning News will have a Multimedia page on our website. I have been pushing for this since I arrived here last August and through much begging and pleading its finally becoming a reality. WHOOO HOOO ! To make it happen however we needed content for it so we all rushed to come up with stuff to put up there. Admittedly its crap, after doing slide shows in school and having a year off from them its been tough getting back into it, my skills are not what they were. However in the tradition of the loved and hated Roy Stryker today I gave myself a shooting script.. it really helped.
I'll post the link the Multimedia site next week, in the mean time here's a few from today at the BBQ place.. and a plate of the ROCKIN' fries.

EAW

In my first year applying to Eddie Adams, I didn't get in. At first I was a bit sad but now I am ok with it, I can, and will try again next year with an entirely new portfolio.

I love my job, the people I meet everyday, and in these very difficult times I understand just how lucky I am to have a job as a photojournalist. I hear people complaining constantly about what they don't have, how much the company provided pens suck, and a bunch of other crap that in the grand scheme of things really don't matter.

The way I see it right now, I have a roof over my head, food in the fridge, a little extra cash for fun, people in my life who love me, and the amazing job of witnessing the world unfold.I have done my share of negative talk, complaining, and even some whining, but all that accomplishes is to poison my own heart and mind. So for now I am thinking positively, opening my heart, learning, evolving, and hopefully everyday I will become a better photographer, and more importantly a better person.

Lighting Limitations..

wishing I had portable lights, but here's what I did with my 1 flash and Henry Scott, a local high school student who won $4000.00 in bowling scholarships.

Upward Bound

is a program for high school students in 9th-11th grades, who are to become the first generation of college graduates in their families. I spent a little time with a group of young women today who inspired me, I may revisit this program a bit.
